The name behind it
My name’s Terrance Boyd, and this has been my company since 2012. I was raised in South Memphis, over near Orange Mound, and I’ve been lending a hand to move neighbors and folks from church across the Bluff City since I was a kid.
Before the first truck wore my name, I spent years driving routes and loading vans for another crew here in town. Starting out, I made myself one promise and haven’t broken it: wrap and strap every box like it belongs to my own grandmother, and hand you the flat price in writing before the tailgate drops.
How we operate
- Our own fleet — each truck returns to the Getwell Rd yard nightly, gets cleaned out, reloaded with fresh pads, and lined up for tomorrow’s runs.
- Roughly 14 uniformed movers — every one W-2 and background-checked, no corner-hire day labor.
- The same crew from start to finish — on an in-town job your belongings never change hands somewhere along the I-240 loop.
- Properly credentialed — we hold Tennessee household-goods authority for local work and our own US DOT and MC authority for interstate, all bonded and insured.
Who you’ll talk to
- Yolanda Pearson runs the front office — she prices jobs, issues a certificate of insurance whenever a landlord needs one, and keeps our Tennessee paperwork in order.
- DeShawn Miller handles dispatch, laying out the truck board each day across Shelby County and the I-240 loop.
- Reggie Turner, my lead crew chief, takes the gun safes, the upright pianos, the antiques, and any punishing stair carry.
- Cortez Banks heads up the long runs on I-40 and I-55.
- Jamal Whitten is our Downtown and Midtown man for walk-ups and lofts.
What it costs
Around town the job runs on the clock — $124 an hour buys two movers and a truck, and bumping to three makes it $174. There’s a one-hour minimum, and pads, dollies, shrink-wrap and wardrobe boxes cost you nothing extra. Once the load crosses a state line, we switch to a written flat total and sign it before loading starts.
